Emotional Mastery is a process of becoming aware of your own emotions and then be able to choose your response to the moment.
In life, at times there are favorable situations and at another time, there are unfavorable situations. As per the situation, we feel emotions – happy and unhappy both! This is the reality of life.
As both happy and unhappy emotions happen in life, we need to learn how to deal with the emotions when they are happening. We cannot expect only happy emotions to happen! Whatever be the emotion, it is our ability to deal with those emotions that really matters.
How to deal with heavy emotions?
When heavy emotions happen, don’t act quickly out of the emotion.
Take a break!
Take time to be still and calm,
Know your emotions, feel it, name it,
Accept and acknowledge the emotion as they are – No judgment – do not name it as ‘good’ or ‘bad’,
Just know and name the emotion as you are feeling it,
Moving from React to Response
Think – what is the best thing for me to do at this moment? Based on your Vision and goal, and your Core Values – choose the best possible way for you to deal the moment!
This is called ‘Response’
The more and more you are able to go from ‘React’ and to ‘Respond’, the more you will feel you are in control of your life!
Having control over your response will definitely improve the quality of your life.
